Hydrangea season is here!

It's summer, and that means Hydrangeas are bursting into bloom all across the midwest, treating us to months of stunning flowers.
|
|
The great thing about Hydrangeas is that there's a type for every garden. Whether you have a spacious landscape or a cozy nook, a shady spot or a sunny one, there's a Hydrangea for you! But with so many types to choose from, where do you start? Keep reading to discover the answers!

Pick the perfect hydrangea
|
|
|
There's just a few easy steps to chosing a hydrangea that matches your needs:
|
|
|
1. Water
All hydrangeas require at least moderate water, so choose a spot within reach of the garden hose.
|
|
|
2. Shelter
Mophead, mountain and oakleaf hydrangeas need a spot that's sheltered from winter temperature fluctuations. The north side of a house is ideal. If they wake up too early, these types can take frost damage to their flower buds, causing them to bloom less or not at all.
|
|
3. Sunlight
All types of hydrangeas need at least partial sunlight to flower. Figure out how much sunlight the spot gets, and at what time of day.
|
|
|
4. Space
Measure the space to figure out how wide and tall you need the hydrangea to be. Hydrangeas can be 3'x3' or less, or as large as 8'x8'. It all depends on which variety you choose. Click through the links above to view some of the varieties that we have available.
