Grow your own groceries

Whether you have a windowsill or acres of space, you can grow an edible garden! Here are some tips for getting the most out of the ground you've got:

Containers
Opt for Herbs, Patio Tomatoes & other small Veggies, or Strawberries. Provide regular fertilizer to keep them growing.

Compact Spaces
Aside from the container plants listed above, most Vegetables will grow in a bed that's 4'x4' or less. (Google "square foot gardening" for details.)
Everbearing Raspberries, Rhubarb, and Asparagus can also be grown in small spaces.

If you're setting up a raised bed, visit Stone Market for our custom topsoil-compost blend, enriched with beneficial microbes. It's available in bags or bulk!
You'll also find straw bales available at Stone Market, which make a fantastic vegetable garden mulch.

Special Challenges
In a shady spot, try Herbs, Greens, or Raspberries.

In a narrow, sunny spot along a fence, grow Grapes!
Dealing with deer or rabbits? Most Herbs are a safe option, as is Rhubarb. Tomatoes and Peppers usually do fine, too.
