Southern Elegance
Candle Company
Joining us for the first time this fall with a limited holiday product line, Southern Elegance is a North Carolina based small business that sources its materials from other local small businesses, and retails through small business outlets. The owner and CEO of Southern Elegance Candle Company, D’Shawn Russell, learned to make candles by hand as part of an exploration of her Southern heritage. Her products are highly scent-centric, focused on unique aromas that capture the essence of Americana.
Wrendale Designs
The whimsical paintings of Hannah Dale adorn this multi award-winning line of giftware from the UK. She draws her main inspiration from the wildlife around her home in rural Lincolnshire. What began as a personal hobby captured the interest of friends and family, and soon she found that her work was in demand, leading to the creation of Wrendale Designs. Hannah's respect for nature extends to the methods that her company uses to produce their wares- their paper, for instance, is sourced from sustainably managed forests in the English Lake District. Among other accolades, she's garnered the prestigious Queen's Award for Enterprise, which is reserved for UK companies doing business in an innovative and sustainable way.
New Designs from Isabel Bloom
Isabel Bloom was a Quad Cities sculptor who developed her own unique process for creating work that would stand up to the elements. She lived to the age of 93 and built a thriving business that continues to this day, now overseen by her protegee, Donna Hunt. The artists that produce Isabel Bloom sculptures remain true to her artistic style and subject matter, and the collectable sculptures are still locally produced in the Quad Cities.
